Site Lynx
Mobile Integrated Workspace
SiteLynx is a mobile, all‑in‑one workspace and digital hub designed to bring critical project data, tools, and communication directly onto the construction site. Developed with the multidisciplinary design and engineering team at Design 1st Inc., the system combines ruggedized hardware, integrated power and connectivity, and an ergonomic layout within a weather‑resistant rotomolded enclosure. The result is a field-ready platform that supports project management, coordination, and real-time decision-making in demanding construction-site environments.
Main Challenges
Designing a highly durable system that protects sensitive electronics, displays, and power components while being quick to set up, transport, and deploy in rough, outdoor environments.
Organizing the physical and digital workspace so that tools and interfaces are ergonomic and efficient to use under time pressure
and in harsh conditions.Accommodating a wide range of workflows, trades, and software tools while keeping the solution maintainable, scalable, and compatible with existing construction tech ecosystems.
Client hand-holding and education on the design process, manufacturing constraints and user-centered practices.
Key Achievements
Led the design, engineering and manufacturing team to develop a modular, portable unit that centralizes on-site data access, communications, and physical tools into a single, cohesive system.
Improved usability and safety for construction professionals by refining layouts, interaction flows, and protective features for work in unpredictable weather and high-traffic areas.
Strengthened alignment between industrial design, human factors, and technical integration, ensuring that enclosure architecture, equipment installation, and user interfaces work together as
a unified whole.Created a long-lasting client relationship through inclusive management techniques and clear communication.
Role and Responsibilities
Led the product development dngineering and design team from idea to mass-producction.
Maintained continuous collaboration and communication with the client to ensure a smooth project progression and a preserved final product vision.
Oversaw the team in creation of detailed CAD models and assemblies, and 2D documentation used for prototyping, engineering integration, and stakeholder reviews.
Collaborated closely with mechanical, electrical, and product teams to validate clearances, mounting strategies, thermal considerations, and field-readiness.
Supported iterative design development driven by real-world use scenarios, incorporating constraints such as PPE use, gloved interaction, limited lighting, and fast deployment.
Contributed to the enclosure architecture and internal layout, balancing environmental protection, ventilation, access, and serviceability for embedded electronics and power systems.
Helped frame SiteLynx within the broader construction technology landscape, emphasizing its role as a physical anchor for digital tools and connected workflows on site.
