Bathrooms and Bodies
Conceptual Development
A freelance project for the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology. The concept design for this exhibition explores the intersection of bathroom design, technology, and personal experiences. It examines how bathrooms and associated objects reflect societal discussions on beauty standards, identity, and consumer accountability.
The exhibition has three themes:
Designed Space: Focuses on architectural elements and how design influences user experiences, catering to diverse needs and cultural values.
Technology and Body: Investigates advancements in hygiene, comfort, and accessibility, revealing how technology impacts personal care and identity.
Technology, Gender, and Environment: Discusses gendered experiences in bathroom use and the role of eco-friendly technologies in sustainability.
As part of the Technology in Our Lives exhibition, "Bathrooms and Bodies" encourages visitors to engage with the significance of bathrooms as reflections of social narratives and identities.
Main Challenges
Integrating the new exhibition with the existing gallery space, floor plan and content, while providing a distinct aesthetic.
Considering diverse gender perspectives complicates design choices and necessitates careful representation.
Gallery layout constraints restrict design possibilities, requiring innovative solutions for impact.
